GRIDLOCKED

GRIDLOCKED REVIEWED

“Gridlocked” follows Dominic Purcell after he is medically suspended from NYPD SWAT. While having to work a bodyguard detail for a celebrity, Stephen Lang and his band of mercenaries decide to get nefarious. What we get is a brutal throwdown with so many B-Listers that Rene will watch this from the bottom of a bottle of Lubriderm. It must just be me, but Trish Stratus is starting to look like Gal Godot will in 20 years. She’s not bad looking, it’s just a weird thing I noticed during her scenes. Danny Glover is in this flick for a reason that yet to strike me.

While I acknowledge that I’m not the target audience for these films, I appreciate their consistency. Directing action is an art form that it seems like younger generations have forgotten. Too many try to evoke the 1980s without getting what made them work. The heart, the sense of pace and the character work is alive in “Gridlocked” and that’s what raises it above the typical fare.
