RIDE FOR LANCE

THE PLOT THUS FAR

From the filmmaker that brought you MURPH: The Protector comes another moving tribute to a fallen hero. Chief Petty Officer Lance Vaccaro, a highly decorated United States Navy SEAL, gave his life for his country in 2008. To honor his sacrifice, four riders and a support team – all friends of Lance – launched the Lance Vaccaro Memorial Ride and rode from Virginia Beach to Alaska and back on motorcycles, covering 12,000 miles in 31 days.  Ride for Lance captures the excitement of the open road as well as the stirring emotion of four Navy SEAL bikers touching thousands of lives along the way, including active duty troops, veterans, and the families of deployed and fallen troops who also share their stories of pride and heartbreak.

Ride for Lance is an inspiring movie about friends, family and a brother warrior that will never be forgotten.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Ride for Lance” is a moving tribute to fallen soldier Chief Petty Officer Lance Vaccaro. The Memorial Ride seems like any other rally you’d see during a Holiday weekend, but there’s something amazing about doing 12,000 miles in 31 days. Going from Alaska to Virginia Beach, would’ve been insane for any trip. But, we get to watch a handful of guys bond about important stuff. Never forget your brothers-in-arms.

Lance Vaccaro lives on in the memories of the riders, but not in that bullshit sort of Marine commercial way. When you listen to people bond and sound off about emotional issues that they normally don’t touch, there’s something revealed. These guys care for each other in a way that few people on Earth are ever going to understand. Fraternity is such an undersold concept in the Western World and it’s about time that we saw a film celebrate it. Hell, it made the Navy Seals look better than “Lone Survivor”.

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is typical for standard definition DTV fare. Most of the Dolby track keeps everything upfront. Plus, the transfer has a few bits of digital noise. In the end, I’d recommend checking it out.
