Meet Marie (Mel House), a New York City mom who assumed she’d have money, success, and respect by middle age. Instead, she finds herself juggling too many jobs, disappointing her family, and suffocating her anger behind an unwavering smile. When an opportunity arises to embrace her inner Goddess, Marie is led to believe she’s getting the recognition she deserves, until a video of her venting her frustration becomes a viral hit.
‘Hot Angry Mom’ intertwines elements of ‘Fleabag’ and ‘I May Destroy You’, offering a raw portrayal of a mother’s life. It humorously yet powerfully guides the audience through Marie’s self-discovery, as she learns to acknowledge her anger and sexual power, aspects she was previously conditioned to suppress.
The series stands out by being a creation of moms for moms. As the creator and star, House emphasizes, “This story is for the 2 billion moms in the world, especially the 85.4 million in the U.S. I hope it sparks conversations about channeling anger to confront the systemic factors that exacerbate ‘mom rage’.” She goes on to address the invisible labor, sacrifices, and lack of autonomy that moms face, highlighting the dire need for this narrative.
