Mock and Roll is a funny film about a cover band trying to make it to SXSW. The band makes funny parody covers of more established acts. While that might sound taxing to listen to on Soundcloud, you’ll find yourself amused by their antics as they scramble to get to Austin. There are some fun homages and cameos, but that’s not what matters here. What matters is that this band is cool and you want to hang with them.
If the humor could be fine-tuned a little more, I could see it almost working as an ongoing Hulu or Adult Swim series. Making it into a film feels like an extended pilot, but it’s a welcome introduction to their hi-jinks.
