“The White Storm” is a throwback to 1980s era Hong Kong crime movies. The action is high and the events are well staged. However, Benny Chan isn’t John Woo. Hell, he’s not even Tsui Hark. The momentum rises and falls far too often and the plot gets muddy in the middle. What is a Hong Kong action movie, if not about three cops that might be into shady business? It’s standard fare over there, but it wins Oscars in America. The DVD comes with a Digital Copy and trailer gallery as the special features.
