LOS ANGELES KINGS: 2014 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

LOSANGELESKINGS2014DVD

THE PLOT THUS FAR

The Kings have reclaimed their crown!
For the second time in three seasons – the Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup Champions.

NHL Original Productions takes you behind the glass, on the bench, and into the locker room as the Kings embark on a record setting journey through the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Led by captain Dustin Brown, dynamic forward Anze Kopitar, goaltender Jonathan Quick, and Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams – Los Angeles defeated both of their Californian rivals (San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks), upset the defending Stanley Cup Champions (Chicago Blackhawks), and outlasted the Eastern Conference Champions (New York Rangers) en route to hoisting the most coveted trophy in sports – the Stanley Cup.

Exclusive interviews with players, coaches, and Kings legends provide an inside look at LA’s historic victory. From the Stadium Series to multiple comebacks from the brink of elimination, the Kings crafted an unforgettable Hollywood sequel.

The cup is back in LA! Experience every dramatic moment of the 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

“Los Angeles Kings: 2014 Stanley Cup Champions” is the latest end of the season highlight DVD from the NHL. For a Playoffs that started strong, it sure went out on a whimper. The Kings’ last win was a real battle, while this felt more like a stamina showdown. Still, they stopped the Rangers. That’s about the only positive thing I have to say about this series.

While I don’t hate the Kings, I don’t believe that they are the best team in the NHL. Hell, I wouldn’t call them the 5th best team in the League. That being said, I respect a team that can come up and bring it where it matters. While this isn’t the most memorable Kings lineup, they’re scrappy and they have heart. The NHL has been missing that in their American teams for awhile.

The DVD comes with featurettes and a highlight reel as the special features. The A/V Quality is typical for a standard definition sports presentation. The transfer has small bits of noise, but that’s typical. The same goes for the Dolby Surround track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
