WHAT WE THOUGHT
“How I Met Your Mother” is trying its hardest not to limp to the finish line. Moments with Patrice, Marshall finally getting his dream job and Ted’s never-ending parade of the cray-cray ladies gets you through a lot. However, it seems like they could’ve ended it here. I’m not faulting Bays and Thomas, but so much of this season felt like padding. But, we got to see Robin Sparkles go grunge. It also taught mainstream America how easy it is to bribe Canadians with a box of Tim Horton’s.
The show is rather inappropriate at times, especially with Barney, and I understand how people wouldn’t want to watch that or wouldn’t want their kids to watch it. Also, there are times when the show is rather discriminatory, for example, saying all girls are dumb and the only important thing about them is their bust, and I understand how people might be offended by that. However, I think that’s part of what makes the show humorous. I am a girl, and I know that women aren’t just there for their bust.
The DVD comes with deleted scenes, featurettes, music video, commentary and gag reel as the special features. The A/V Quality is strong with a supportive transfer and a Dolby audio track. The Dolby track doesn’t get much back channel action outside of the few major set pieces. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans of the show.
