On March 8th, Anchor Bay Entertainment releases the hilarious IFC mock miniseries “The Spoils of Babylon” on DVD. This is the satirical six-part saga that sends up the overblown TV movie events of the ‘70s and ‘80s and the pomposity behind them. This wild and wickedly funny journey into one family’s appetite for money, sex and power is produced by Funny or Die and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Nate Young along with writers Andrew Steele and Matt Piedmont (who also directed).
“The Spoils of Babylon” is an epic tale like no other. Legendary author Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell), the undisputed master of dramatic fiction, introduces audiences to the brilliant adaptation of his best-selling novel, a sweeping chronicle of the provocative and captivating exploits of the Morehouse family. Patriarch Jonas Morehouse (Tim Robbins) shepherds his daughter Cynthia (Emmy® nominated Kristen Wiig) and adopted son Devon (Tobey Maguire) from meager beginnings in the oil fields of Texas to powerful boardrooms in New York City.
“The Spoils of Babylon” is a momentous and sweeping tale of forbidden love, betrayal, corruption and bloodshed. This gripping tale has a cast that also includes Jessica Alba, Jellybean Howie, Val Kilmer, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Steve Tom and cameos by David Spade, Molly Shannon, and Carey Mulligan voicing a mannequin.
“The Spoils of Babylon” is the masterwork of Eric Jonrosh, who introduces each episode in his own inimitable style, always surrounded by good food and drink…and more drink. Weird and wonderful, “The Spoils of Babylon” is satire of the highest order and absurdity at its most absurd.
