THE ALCATRAZ ESCAPE REVIEWED

“The Alcatraz Escape” follows three Dutch scientists as they try to retrace Morris and the Anglin Brothers’ escape from Alcatraz. While I paired my viewing of this documentary with the classic Siegel film, I found myself disappointed. In an hour’s time, I still expected to have a definitive answer. We got a ton of guesses and some were reasonable. But, I wanted to see a watery grave or some solid proof. That’s more about me as a viewer in the 21st century. I just can’t handle inconclusive documentaries anymore.

The Plot Thus Far

In 1962, bank robbers Frank Morris and Clarence & John Anglin launched a patchwork raft into the waters surrounding Alcatraz Prison. The men disappeared, leaving behind a cold case that has mystified law enforcement for over half a century. Now, three Dutch scientists have used 3D modeling technology to show that it may have been possible for the men to have survived. Can they prove once and for all what happened to the escapees?
