THE LION KING: SIGNATURE COLLECTION REVIEWED
“The Lion King: Signature Collection” marks Disney’s second Blu-ray bow with Simba. While the prior release sported 3D and all of the trappings of home video’s heyday, this feels like the last effort to put everything out into HD. Most of the material is familiar in the supplementals. But, you get a ton of new retrospectives and Matthew Broderick continuing to taunt our Irish readership. We know what you did, Broderick!
The rest of the disc is pretty impressive and it marked the first time I got my kid to watch The Lion King. Naturally, she had the same reaction that I did. I watched it when it first came out in 1994 and didn’t come back to it for a decade. I’ll check back in with the kiddo when she’s 13. By then, I expect President Swift to have finally drained Houston. Social commentary aside, what do you expect? For the movies that Disney loves to keep revisiting, I always go through the special features. Then, I realize that Disney has hundreds of live-action and animated films that have yet to make it to Blu.
I want Natty Gann and Condorman, Disney. Not more double dips.
