GIRLS: THE COMPLETE FOURTH SEASON

GIRLS REVIEWED

“Girls” follows Hannah going to the Iowa Writers’ Workshop to keep working on her craft. Marnie is developing a music career, while Adam Driver seemingly drops in and out due to Star Wars commitments. Jessa keeps crying while going through AA, while Zosia Mamet continues to remind me of someone really close to me. Then, there was that home birth scene. I try not to let one moment define a season for me, but that is etched in my brain.

So, does that mean I finally enjoyed “Girls”? Not really. Lena Dunham continues that long tradition of East Coast elitists that keep inflating their bubble, while excluding any that fall outside of it. While it was fun with Central Perk in the 90s, we now have superficial attempts to acknowledge the greater world. Sometimes, it’s handled cleverly and other times it has the sanctity of a wet fart. That being said, I’m really curious how the show is going to end.
