Brian Trenchard-Smith is the king of Ozploitation.
“Turkey Shoot” is one of the best Ozploitation films ever made. It’s also the film that made me learn to love Michael Craig as a great cinematic villain. Steve Railsback is a little too intense as the lead and Olivia Hussey never really delivers. But, this is a film made to enjoy villainy and the awfulness that it can produce. Come for the lesbian killers and stay for the cannibal circus freak. Just check out those dreamy eyes and wonder if you’re going to be his next meal.
The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, interviews, commentary, trailers, alternate title sequence and a roundtable discussion as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning with its restored HD transfer. The DTS-HD 2.0 master audio track keeps everything upfront. My receive picked it up as a LPCM mix at the start, but it read as DTS-HD throughout the majority of the picture. Still, it sounded way too lossy to be anything but PCM or Dolby. In the end, I’d still recommend a purchase.
