“Knifed Up” is a stunning look at how plastic surgery pressures target the African American community. For some reason, it feels like I’ve been covering a ton of similar documentaries recently. While focusing on Nicki Minaj and Wendy Williams, the documentary talks about the ever-shifting idea of African American beauty. Nobody talks about the risks of death in documentaries about plastic surgery, so I’m glad that it got heavy focus here. Still, how heavy can you get in 45 minutes? The DVD comes with extended interviews as the special features.
