“The Dead Lands” is a brutal revenge flick about a son trying to avenge his father’s death. Fighting against a rival Chieftain and seeking outside help, young Hongi will make you believe in the Maori language. Specifically, how it sounds frightening as hell when screamed. Other than that, it’s brutal violence on par with “Apocalypto”. That was enough to entertain me.
The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, Q&A and an interview with James Cameron as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning for a film that didn’t see a big American release. The 1080p transfer pops for a foreign action flick. Then, there’s the stunning DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track available in Maori and English. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
