Edward Berger’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” has been receiving numerous accolades and nominations, and now it’s set for a high-quality home theater edition release. On March 28th, capelight pictures in collaboration with Netflix will release the movie as a 2-disc Limited Collector’s Edition in a mediabook format with the film in 4K Ultra HD on UHD Blu-ray and in HD on Blu-ray in North America.
The 4K UHD version features the original German audio with English subtitles in Dolby Atmos audio and 4K Dolby Vision image for the perfect picture and sound quality. The mediabook packaging comes with a 24-page booklet that includes “SHARING THE GERMAN PERSPECTIVE” — a conversation with director Edward Berger and “A MACHINE OF DEATH UNLIKE ANY EXPERIENCED BEFORE” — an interview with historian and professor Daniel Schönpflug on the historical background of the movie.
“All Quiet on the Western Front” tells the story of a young German soldier on the Western Front during World War I. The lead role of Paul Bäumer is played by newcomer and theater-actor Felix Kammerer. Other cast members include Albrecht Schuch, Edin Hasanovic, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Adrian Grünewald, Daniel Brühl, and Devid Striesow.
The screenplay was written by Edward Berger, Ian Stokell, and Lesley Paterson. The movie is produced by Malte Grunert, Daniel Dreifuss, and Edward Berger on behalf of Netflix. Cinematography is helmed by James Friend, while Christian M. Goldbeck is responsible for the production design and Lisy Christl for the costume. The music is by Volker Bertelmann.
All Quiet on the Western Front has received numerous nominations and awards, including 9 Oscar® nominations and 7 BAFTA wins.
For the first time ever, a production from Germany has been nominated for an Oscar® in the most important category, Best Picture.
