“With Love and a Major Organ”: A Heartfelt Journey Through Emotion and Connection

Directed by Kim Albright and penned by Julia Lederer, “With Love and a Major Organ” presents a thought-provoking narrative set in a peculiar world where human hearts are tangible objects and societal norms dictate a suppression of emotions. This film stars Anna Maguire as Anabel, a Virtual Insurance broker navigating through an emotion-dampening society with her heart leading the way. Despite the world’s pragmatism, Anabel’s encounter with George, portrayed by Hamza Haq of NBC’s “Transplant,” leads her to make a drastic decision—she gives her heart away.

Anabel’s life takes a turn for the easier without the weight of her heart, whereas George, previously detached, starts experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, much to his domineering mother Mona’s dismay. The narrative unfolds with Anabel’s realization of the necessity to reclaim her heart, setting the stage for a compelling exploration of love, loss, and the intrinsic human connection to emotion.

“With Love and a Major Organ” has garnered attention and acclaim, marking its presence at prestigious festivals such as the 2023 SXSW Film Festival, the 2023 Fantasia International Film Festival, and the 2023 Cucalorus Film Festival, among others. The film’s unique premise and heartfelt storytelling have resonated with audiences and critics alike, earning it a spot in the official selection of these renowned events.

The film is set to enchant audiences in New York City at The Roxy Cinema on March 29th, followed by a screening at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles on April 5th. A national expansion is slated to begin on April 12th, promising to bring Anabel’s journey and the film’s poignant message to a wider audience.
