Unleashing “The Miracle Fighters”: A Kung Fu Fantasy Spectacle by Yuen Woo-Ping, Coming to Blu-ray

Eureka Entertainment is set to thrill martial arts cinema enthusiasts with the announcement of “The Miracle Fighters” release, a dazzling 1982 kung fu fantasy that showcases the unparalleled choreographic and directorial genius of Yuen Woo-Ping. Scheduled for release on June 25, this classic film will be presented in a brand new 2K restoration as part of the esteemed Eureka Classics range. Adding to the collectible value, the first print run of 2000 copies will include an exclusive O-card slipcase and a collector’s booklet, making it a must-have for fans and collectors alike.

“The Miracle Fighters” is an exuberant journey through a tale of Taoist magic, directed by the martial arts maestro responsible for iconic films like “Drunken Master,” “The Magnificent Butcher,” and “Iron Monkey.” The film unfolds during the Qing dynasty, where a law forbids marriage between Manchu and Han people. The plot thickens when a high-ranking official, Kao Hsiung (played by Eddy Ko), is ordered by the Emperor to execute his Han wife as a demonstration of loyalty. His refusal sets off a chain of events that pits him against the formidable Sorcerer Bat (Yuen Shun-yee), leading to a desperate quest for survival and magical protection.

Resonating with the charm and eccentricity of its contemporaries like “Encounter of the Spooky Kind” and “The Dead and the Deadly,” “The Miracle Fighters” not only stands as a testament to Yuen Woo-Ping’s imaginative prowess but also paved the way for two thematic sequels, “Shaolin Drunkard” and “Taoism Drunkard,” further enriching the genre.

Fans can also look forward to brand new audio commentaries by Asian film expert Frank Djeng and action cinema experts Mike Leeder and Arne Venema, an archival interview with Yuen Woo-Ping, a new documentary featurette by Michael Worth, and much more.

With its limited edition release, “The Miracle Fighters” Blu-ray promises to be a celebrated addition to the libraries of kung fu aficionados and cinema collectors.
