The Trigger Effect / Bodycount [Review]

The Trigger Effect was a mid 90s attempt to remake The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street. Kyle MacLachlan and Elisabeth Shue are a young couple thrown into a tizzy when their city gets hit with a major blackout. Stuck with a sick kid and a crazy neighbor, the duo splits to try and make sense of their changed world. The Amblin production banner helped it to get attention, but it’s a very slight movie. Bodycount is a complex heist movie about thieves turning on each other. Outside of David Caruso, the cast is pretty amazing. Leguizamo and Ving Rhames offer up highlights, but this is very much a late 90s crime movie. You’ve seen better.

Trigger Effect / Bodycount arrives on June 4th
