Room 37: The Mysterious Death of Johnny Thunders is a stunning release that tries to understand what happened to Johnny Thunders. Underappreciated outside of France, Thunders was an immense talent that never quite stuck in the mainstream. There remains a ton of questions about his death. Especially since Dee Dee Ramone backed up claims that Thunders was traveling the country with a ton of methadone.
Still, nothing really gets answers. Most will stick with the film for the musical performances and the included CD of the score and additional performances. It’s a slightly odder music biopic, but the film is still pretty cool. I’d recommend it.
