“Outlander” is for the lady in your life that demands something more than “50 Shades of Grey”. She wants historical fiction wank to take her back to a time that she can romanticize and gloss over the poor standard of living. There’s a ton of great character actors and assorted talent scattered through the first half of Season 1.
That being said, you have to really be in love with the material to stick with it. Ronald D. Moore has had amazing past success in TV and I count Caprica as one of those wins. That being said, this show insists on itself so much that eight episode was almost too much to bare. I feel terrible for you, if your spouse/partner/S.O./late night booty call has a deep appreciation for this series.
The DVD comes with featurettes as the special features. The A/V Quality holds up for recent TV on DVD. That being said, I can’t say anything presented was impressive. It was delightfully average.
