She created some stories that were paper-thin analogies about her life, then tried to market her brand past that. What’s presented here is early 90s TV-Movie fare that would air on nights when Murphy Brown or Knots Landing wasn’t available. Oh well.
Omnibus Entertainment’s recent release of CamGirl has done something to my brain. Honestly, I enjoyed watching a woman break her way out of normalcy and using sex to define her business girls. Plus, boobs. I love Italian cinema when it’s not getting surreal. It seems like literally every other nation in the West knows how to display sexual situations on film. But, we’ve got Avengers movies.
The Charmer is another film about foreigners finding love in a strange land. Normally, this is where I wax poetic. Honestly, it’s just a charming story about people finding love and questioning their processes. Plus, the bonus short film is nice. It’s got me looking up Pearl Gluck.
Minutes to Midight: The Cold War Chronicles is a fascinating collection of documentaries about the Cold War. Culled from public facing Civil Defense and public education docs, it’s insane to see how close to the brink everything became for a few decades. My favorite is the FOX produced Red Chinese Battle Plan which showed regular people how fight off the global conquest of the Red Chinese.
Out of Love has the best DVD cover. Outside of that, it’s The Story of Us done in a super serious fashion. Interesting enough for a watch, but not demanding enough to keep my attention.
Soul Team Six is a collection of movies that have better releases by Banana Bill over at Dark Force. These are deep cut Blaxploitation movies that mean I only recommend this release as a ways of getting deeper into the history of these films. Black Fist is a hardcore crime movie where Dabney Coleman is the only white guy for 20 minutes. That is incredible.
