Mayans M.C. Season 1 [DVD review]

Mayans is a spin-off from Sons of Anarchy. The series takes place years after Sons and a bit further South. Still, it features that Kurt Sutter flair and tons of bikers. When I discover fans of these shows, I’m always surprised. Most creative projects have a dedicated fanbase. Yet, the people who dig this stuff are always off the wall.

Whether it is accountants, old biker dads or Buckcherry groupies, I’ve had the weirdest conversations with Mayans/Sons of Anarchy fans. So, why can’t I remember anything about the show outside of Ron Perlman? The second season starts after Labor Day, but I don’t know if it will make a difference.

That’s the problem with deep niche shows. You better be onboard from the start. Otherwise, it’s a confusing world that delves deep into minutia. The parts that extend past there can be found better on other series. The DVD comes with featurettes about the production of the first season. The A/V Quality is standard definition that pales in comparison to literally any decent FX HD broadcast.

Mayans M.C. Season 1 hits DVD on August 20th
