HEART SPECIALIST, THE

 HEART SPECIALIST, THE 1

THE PLOT THUS FAR

Suave Harvard Medical School grad Ray Howard seems destined to specialize in womanizing. That is, until he heads to Florida to intern under the tutelage of chief resident Dr. Sidney Zachary. With help from his girlfriend, “Dr. Z” sets out to mold Ray into a caring, responsible doctor. Along the way, he shares some important truths and a whole lot of humor in this sexy romantic comedy.

WHAT WE THOUGHT

Self-absorbed Harvard grad Ray Howard lands at a south Florida hospital to begin his internship — and woo his onetime flame — while chief resident and part-time comic Dr. Zachary shows his trainees that laughter and healing go hand in hand. You’ve seen it all before, but this time featuring black people!

Wood Harris and Brian White have great chemistry on the screen. Kenny Choi’s character goes through an amazing progression. Mya surprises us all with an amazing performance and Scot Paulin along with David Lee play characters that you love to hate. It was good to see a film that promoted the concept of African Americans in professional positions – without the stereotypical implications of gangs and violence. The story was touching and inspirational for anyone in any circumstances to feel good about what they do and to believe in themselves.

The DVD comes with additional scenes that don’t add much to the material. The A/V Quality is strong enough for a recent release, but the Dolby track has no back channel support.
