The Scarface Mob: A True Crime Classic

Kicking off the releases on April 23rd is the Limited Edition Blu-ray of “The Scarface Mob.” This film dives into the gritty true-life account of Eliot Ness, a determined federal investigator, and his elite team of Treasury agents. Their mission: to bring the notorious gangster Al Capone to justice. Originally aired as a two-part TV pilot produced by the legendary duo Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball, “The Scarface Mob” achieved such immense success that it spawned the iconic TV series “The Untouchables.”

Directed by Phil Karlson, known for “Walking Tall,” and starring Robert Stack, Neville Brand, and Barbara Nichols among others, the film is celebrated for its stark portrayal of violent street gangs. Special features include two new video essays, a theatrical trailer, and image galleries, adding depth to the viewing experience.

Basket Case: A Cult Horror Phenomenon

On April 30th, the horror genre gets a boost with Frank Henenlotter’s “Basket Case” arriving on 4K UHD in a Limited Edition release. This cult classic follows the eerie journey of a young man seeking vengeance against the doctors responsible for separating him from his deformed conjoined twin.

Shot on a shoestring budget in New York City, Henenlotter’s debut feature has etched its place in underground film lore. The release is packed with special features including audio commentaries, cast and crew interviews, and a feature-length documentary on the making of the film series, ensuring a rich experience for fans and newcomers alike.

The Tin Star: A Western Masterpiece

Also making its Limited Edition Blu-ray debut on April 30th is Anthony Mann’s “The Tin Star.” Starring Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins, this gripping western thriller showcases the story of bounty hunter Morgan Hickman as he mentors an inexperienced young sheriff in a town reeling from lawlessness. Directed in Vista Vision and scored by Elmer Bernstein, “The Tin Star” received an Oscar® nomination for Best Screenplay, and its release includes special features like a new audio commentary and interviews, providing viewers with a comprehensive look at the making of this classic.
