The film’s rollout will continue across the United States, with a confirmed showing in Miami at the Coral Gables Art Theater on May 10, and more cities to be announced soon.

Directed by German Kral, an accomplished filmmaker with a rich history of creating evocative cinema, “Adiós Buenos Aires” delves into the heart of Argentina’s tumultuous 2001 economic crisis. This period drama intertwines the soulful essence of tango with a poignant narrative, capturing the struggles and resilience of its characters against a backdrop of societal turmoil.

The story centers around Julio Färber, a charismatic bandoneon player for the “Vecinos de Pompeya,” a working-class tango band struggling to make ends meet. The narrative unfolds with the introduction of Mariela, a spirited young woman whose chance encounter with Julio sets the stage for a compelling exploration of love, hope, and the indomitable spirit of the Argentine people.

The screenplay, a collaborative effort by Stephan Puchner, Fernando Castets, and German Kral, draws inspiration from the real-life “Corralito” crisis, offering a heartfelt tribute to those who endured this challenging period. The talented cast includes Diego Cremonesi and Marina Bellati, alongside notable actors such as Carlos Portaluppi and Rafael Spregelburd, bringing depth and authenticity to this emotionally charged tale.
