Gilda Radner is a personal favorite. However, that doesn’t mean she’s a taste for everyone or that all readers have discovered here. Hence the importance of documentaries like this. Produced in conjunction with CNN Films, the premise of the movie is talking heads get to read about Gilda’s life in her own words. From there, it’s private footage culled throughout her life and career. By the end, you’ll get a more informed idea of what made Gilda tick.
We’re entering into an odd age of documentaries turning deceased celebrities into saints. I delayed my original assessment because I didn’t want to fall face forward into fan worship. However, it’s super hard for me not to fall in love with what I see here. Whether it’s the failed relationship that took her to Canada, Bill Murray not committing to her or her illness…you can’t help but root for the lady that always lands on her feet. But, that’s all you’re going to get here.
