YOR: THE HUNTER FROM THE FUTURE – 35TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION REVIEWED

“Yor: The Hunter From The Future” is a film that lives based on a twist. Well, the twist that comes way too early and the fact that Italian knock-off cinema was coming to a close in the 1980s. The film borrows from He-Man, Star Wars, Planet of the Apes and many more with reckless abandon. Reb Brown gets to star in a film that could’ve populated by anyone at this point. Hell, they could’ve animated Thundarr the Barbarian into the feature and it might’ve had more success.

All that Brown does is smack around purple cave people, fight giant animals and try to get out of the way of dinosaurs. The film is a work of foreign cheese that will have many wondering how they got away with aping an entire scene from “A New Hope”. Does it matter? No. What matters is that we get to take a step back into a time where these kinds of films were allowed to exist. Now, Disney would send a team to Turkey to eradicate this Italian production before a frame was shot.

Pick it up. You need this in your life.
