JOURNEY TO SPACE REVIEWED
“Journey to Space” provides an IMAX level look at the history of the Space Shuttle program. Split into three sections, Patrick Stewart introduces us to the Hubble Telescope, current NASA plans and a look to future Mars colonization. I’d call Stewart a narrator, but he’s more of an announcer for NASA astronauts to explain the inner workings of the program. If you are looking for hard science, then watch the Mars section as the other two sections feels more like promo pieces for NASA.
The history of the ISS and what it has meant for the world is quite stunning. Honestly, I feel that could be a documentary onto itself, as Journey to Space runs a scant 45 minutes. That being said, the creators wisely knew what was visually appealing and they mine every aspect of the documentary to create a sensory overload that will entertain from 8-80. Plus, it really helps if you’re into the Space program. I say this as a goon that watch “The Right Stuff” once every six months. Pick it up if you want to see what IMAX documentaries look like at the peak of A/V Quality.
