DIXIELAND REVIEWED
“Dixieland” is another independent movie that seems to have tried to put a new stamp on modern Southern crime drama. While the drug related crimes are few and far between, the film trots out characters that we’ve seen time and time again. It’s neat seeing how Faith Hill can dress down for a role, but she’s not given anything major to do. Chris Zylka and Riley Keough are capable leads, but again…we’ve seen what they’re doing in several other movies. I enjoy looks at how the poor are stuck in cycles of crime, but I need a full narrative.
