Vin Diesel, I get. But, Michael Caine needs to step it up again.
“The Last Witch Hunter” is the kind of film that nerds think they want, but then reject upon release. There is a great deal of world building, modern fantasy elements and a secret world of magic. All the while, it plays like one of those prolonged RPGs that all the kids want me to take a chance on in my off-time. Rose Leslie and Elijah Wood turn in strong supporting performances, but there’s nothing here to raise the material out of an afternoon trifle. I strongly believe that the film will find a second wind on home video, but it was kinda dumb releasing something this clunky during the Halloween season.
