“NAVY SEALs vs. Zombies” has to be the first October surprise for me. The lack of a major cast and the general premise might scare off a ton of viewer. But, it’s a great zombie siege film with people that want to shoot the hell out of them. Michael Dudikoff, Chad Lail and Rick Fox bring the goods, as they don’t try to dress the film as anything more than it is. Seeing a true gore film drop the self referential humor and winking is so refreshing. That being said, the film plays like a late 90s SEGA arcade game more than a working film. If you can look past that, then you’ve got a quality film for the Halloween season.
The Blu-Ray comes with no special features. The A/V Quality sports a strong Dolby TrueHD 5.1 transfer. The 1080p transfer plays a bit too muddy for me.
