“Showrunners” is a lengthy look at what showrunning actually is and explains it to the mainstream. Basically, a chief writer/producer shapes the tone of a show and balances what the network needs/what’s creatively appropriate. This has to be the first time I’ve seen a documentary on the matter and it crams every major showrunner of the last 15 years together to talk about the craft. Everyone gets a moment, yet I feel like there was enough content to full a full mini-series of documentaries on the matter. But, I guess I’m just a TV nerd. The DVD comes with no special features.
