“The Riot Club” is an adaptation of the Wade play, but there’s something going on. Basically, it’s a status/class push play designed to make you focus on the extravagance and ignore the structure issues. As we follow first year student Miles into the secret Cambridge club, we’re never given any real reason for him to join. He’s more of an avatar for us to experience what it’s like to be a rich piece of trash.
Upper crust entitlement is an issue, but film rarely gets it across. To much obsession with the visual aesthetic, I guess. The DVD comes with a trailer as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is strong for standard definition. Plus, you get a Dolby 5.1 track that seems a bit overpowering. In the end, I’d recommend a rental.
