“So Bright is the View” is sold as a fable. All I see is a young woman getting hammered by the failure of her mother and her inability to escape being a woman in Eastern Europe. The lack of a bright future coupled with the need to make quick decisions places her at a hard road. Will our heroine Estera move to America or try to survive with her mother in Israel?
The film tries for a lot in its 102 minutes, but never sticks anything. I’m not sure if something is lost in the Romanian, but I never feel that connected to Estera’s struggle. After all, it seems that she loses no matter what she does. The DVD comes with a trailer as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is strong enough for a foreign drama in standard definition.
