[text_block_nav title=”The Plot”]”Nothing Sacred” is a tale of twins that are brought together by a weird twist of fate. They’re scattered at opposite ends of the Earth, but their destinies are intertwined. There is talk of a sorcerer having killed their mother and magic plays a role in the matter. Did I mention that the first 15 minutes of the film is in French without subtitles? That should color what you’re getting into when you crack open this movie.[/text_block_nav][text_block_nav title=”What Troy Thought”]Psychic fate, different cultural identities and the push to find themselves is stunning. Eventually the twins meet up and kill their psychic friend. They head to the Arch de Triumph and have to fight a Minotaur. After fighting and killing the beast, I start to wonder what in the hell I’m watching. Languages change up frequently, as the twin go globe hopping to find their mother’s killer. It’s interesting to watch this clever blend of visual information hit the screen.
However, there are so many ideas being thrown at you, that it becomes hard to follow the plot. I dig weird and I appreciate films that don’t want to follow a straight narrative. But, there needs to be a clear end goal in sight. Does it matter if the Twins kill Chambers or not? What’s with the Secret Woods in Oklahoma? I get the need for the 70s mystery drama schtick with the undercover land developer bit. It’s just that it doesn’t gel too terribly well with the rest of the movie.[/text_block_nav][text_block_nav title=”Conclusion”]A quick breakdown for the slow kids
Indie cinema should always be this creative. I just wanted a bit more clarity.[/text_block_nav]
