Tad, Lily, Leap and friends stir up lots of learning fun when they decide to sell lemonade and use their earnings to buy new books for the library. With the help of Cousin Toad, Matilda, Quigley and Burfder, the twins apply their new skills in counting, addition and subtraction to their new venture of making the most delicious lemonade ever!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Counting on Lemonade” is the latest LeapFrog release. Now, you can feel good about letting the TV educate your kids while you watch football. I joke a lot about that, but it’s very easy to turn over a lot of responsibilities to these discs. Kids aren’t always receptive to them, but I find that LeapFrog works well to capture the Pre-K to 7 year old market. Sure, those 7 year olds are a little bit slower than the rest, but the material is good enough for them.
I might poke fun at edutainment, but these releases do repeat basic skills that kids need to have nailed down. STEM is just about dead in this country and we need to do whatever we can to make a kid stand up and take interest. Think about that, the next time you’re talking to a guy from India about a tech support issue. We can fill that gap with LeapFrog, so make sure that your little Tykes are watching the frog children solve fractions and junk. I also liked that this release taught children the pleasures of capitalism by framing it around math. I appreciate it when kid entertainment takes a firm stance on what makes best economic sense.
The DVD comes with sing-alongs and curriculum for parents as the special features. The A/V Quality is sharp. The transfer is standard. But, the Dolby surround tracks helps to keep the kids interested. In the end, it’s a recommended purchase for parents.
