After unleashing their inner thin this season, the cast of Oxygen’s hit series “Dance Your Ass Off” is reuniting in a one-hour special, Monday, September 7 at 10 pm ET/PT. The one-hour reunion is a celebration of the transformation made by the 12 contestants who starred in Oxygen’s first-ever dance/weight-loss competition series. Taped in front of a live studio audience, the reunion catches up with the contestants to see how they have changed, physically and emotionally, since they shook and rattled their rolls away. Each contestant returns including winner, Ruben, who received the $100,000 prize and lost a whopping 74 pounds throughout the show. The other contestants’ total individual weight-losses since leaving the show will be revealed, and are sure to shock everyone!
The reunion features not only the dramatic weight loss results, but also never-before-seen footage and bloopers from the season, as well as contestant “home” stories chronicling the adjustments they’ve made having been away from the “Dance Your Ass Off” set. Appearing at the reunion are host Marissa Jaret Winokur, the professional dancers, the series’ judges: creative director Danny Teeson, dancer/choreographer Mayte Garcia, and dancer/actress Lisa Ann Walter, along with the world-class team of weight loss specialists, including Dr. Robert Huizenga (NBC’s “Biggest Loser”)and Crunch trainer Lee Wall.
Fans of the mega-hit show get a chance to have their burning questions asked, as questions submitted on www.Oxygen.com from fans nationwide are randomly chosen for the contestants, judges and dancers to answer. Also during the reunion, viewers “weigh in” on their “Fan Favorite,” with the winner receiving $5,000 and a one-year membership to Crunch. In addition, fans who can’t get enough “Dance Your Ass Off” can now hit the dance floor in their own living room. Oxygen and Crunch present the official “Dance Your Ass Off” Workout DVD designed to get fans at home moving and losing like the contestants on the show. The DVD is now available at http://shop.oxygen.com for pre-order and is available on www.Amanzon.com and retailers everywhere starting September 15. “Dance Your Ass Off” winner, Ruben, joins show choreographer Lisa Ligon, professional dancers Jesus Solario and Ruben’s partner Hilary Fleming in the Workout DVD.
“Dance Your Ass Off” brings dance and diet together, featuring talented, full-figured contestants who struggle with their weight and dance to unleash their inner thin. Throughout the season, each contestant is paired with a professional dance partner who trained them for their weekly stage performances ranging from Hip Hop, to Ballroom and even Pole Dancing! Then they’ll shake and rattle their rolls in front of a live studio audience and a panel of expert judges. The judges score the routines, and then the contestants weigh in to reveal their weekly weight loss. The dance score and the weight loss are combined for an overall score, which determines who is sent home each week.
“Dance Your Ass Off” is produced by 495 Productions with SallyAnn Salsano serving as executive producer and Joel Zimmer as co-executive producer, with concept by Lisa Ann Walter, with Walter and Kate Rigg serving as executive producers.
