THE PLOT THUS FAR
Suit up for Season 2 of The League, the hilarious fantasy football comedy that elevates humiliation to an art form. After a wild road trip to Vegas to kick off the draft, the season hits its stride as Taco finds a toilet seat made out of cocaine, Ruxin goes to outrageous lengths to meet an NFL player, and Pete fashions a league loser’s trophy from a bull’s privates. Keep your head on a swivel for guest stars like Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Suggs and Josh Cribbs – plus unrated bonus features that go so far out of bounds, the censor must have swallowed his whistle!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
The realities of fantasy football hit home in this semiscripted sitcom about a group of Chicago-based male friends whose annual hobby gives them an excuse to get together and escape their everyday lives. Pete (Mark Duplass) is the reigning champ who drives league commissioner Kevin (Stephen Rannazzisi) to desperate measures.
Starting from the first episode it was brilliant and everything I was expecting after the first season. Very intelligent yet immature at the same time. It is rare to find a show where one character doesn’t stand out from the rest as a “favorite”. From Taco’s ignorant way of thinking to Dre’s horrible taste and awkwardness. The show just keeps the laughs coming and coming. Highly recommend to anyone with a crude adult sense of humor.
The Blu-Ray comes with deleted scenes, featurettes and a gag reel. The A/V Quality is pretty sharp, as we get the usual 1080p and DTS-HD 5.1 master audio match up. The biggest gain has to be seeing all of the episodes presented uncut. FX gets away with a lot, but I like seeing the show as it was meant to be seen. I’d recommend a purchase.
