“Twice Born” is a three-part mini-series about fetal surgery at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. I’m talking about babies being operated in utero. The level of detail and compassion on display is staggering. But, I can’t really say that I’m ever going to watch this show again.
That’s the problem with these well-meaning documentaries. You get all of the information upfront for private viewing. It serves a point for educational purposes, but even then the teacher is going to step out in the hallway. The level of detail onscreen is stunning for what we get, but what else do we need?
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is pretty solid for what it is. I just wish there was a commentary or some featurettes to offset the three hour documentary. But, I learn not to expect special features with PBS fare. If you can handle that, I’d recommend a purchase.
