The Mindy Project is kind of a mess. I mean from a historical standpoint. The show had a troubled life making it to series. Then, they spent their first year losing supporting players to creative cuts that started happening by the second episode. Through all of that, the series kept its fans that even followed to the show to HULU. But, why?
Mindy Kaling is a comedic talent. While I don’t think she always got her fair share on The Office, she still hasn’t floored me in the her post Dunder Mifflin outings. I admit that it’s cool to see her break out of the ensemble comedy and more into a workplace romantic comedy series. It’s just that she either gets upstaged or I can’t get a sense of what story I should be following.
More than anything, the series made me change how I view Ike Barinholtz. The guy kills as Morgan, but past that…I’ve seen this all before. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. But, I can think of 800 other shows that jump out at me first.
The Blu-ray comes with deleted scenes and a gag reel as the special features. Check out the screen shots to get an idea of the A/V Quality. If you dig Kaling, then pick it up.
