STAKE LAND II REVIEWED
“Stake Land II” opens almost right after the first movie ended. Martin and his wife have taken off for New Eden. Things are going swimmingly, then The Mother’s vampire group shows up. Blood is shed and Martin walks away a different man. Now, he has to team up with his former master to take the Vampires down for good. If you were expecting more of a plot, then look at my exciting array of Dark Shadows fan-fiction. I have a section dedicated to a “Behind the Candelabra” expose of Barnabas Collins.
Mister and Martin put on quite a fight with a heavy amount of gore for an indie film. The kicker is that I don’t know a damn thing about any of the new threats. Fangs for that one, guys. You get that one? Fangs are a psycho sexual metaphor for the spread of venereal disease in what has become a Victorian horror archetype that just won’t quite. Also, people really love vampires. What does this mean for the average viewer?
If you loved the first one, you’ll love most of this. It’s just that discerning horror fans will want more for their 95 minutes of entertainment. Make of that what you will.
