The Comedians is a crime comedy about the hunt for a magic ring. What else would you expect from Apartheid era South Africa? What results is a continuing teaching moment about how magic rings aren’t meant to be misused. Where have these films been? For a movie that clocks in under 90 minutes, it asks you to unload a world of information and it does it insanely well.
Plus, there is something that makes you smile about adults fighting over something so goofy. Especially as their entire world was being ran by monsters. Also, what about the guy that originally owned the ring? He seems to not even care that he has it until it gets stolen. Is there some sort of cultural meaning that I’m losing out on in America? Oh well, I’d still recommend it.
