24 HOURS TO LIVE REVIEWED
“24 Hours to Live” has an interesting concept. Ethan Hawke plays an assassin who gets resurrected for 24 hours to avenge his death. From there, the film plays like Steven Seagal trying to make a Crank knock-off on Putin’s dime. But, what sucks about the film is that it’s almost completely devoid of humor. Rutger Hauer looks lost throughout most of the film, but I don’t fault him. It took two viewings of the film before I could make up my mind about the presentation.
The forced flashbacks, the weird action set pieces and the push to make the plot work just hits a wall every single time. While I know that the B-Movie Action crowd will give this one a shot, it has limited appeal out of that niche. I’d love to see Ethan Hawke land high quality roles again, but this isn’t the way to pull it off. Most people will want to skip.
