DEAD AGAIN IN TOMBSTONE

DEAD AGAIN IN TOMBSTONE REVIEWED

“Dead Again in Tombstone” continues the story of the Devil’s servant Guerrero. What could’ve been a disposable DTV film has now spawned a lovely series. In this sequel, Jake Busey leads a gang of Confederate soldiers who decide to blackmail Guerrero. They target his family and force him into turning over an artifact that can raise an undead army. Danny Trejo doesn’t like what’s being planned, so he summons the powers of Hell to stop Busey.

The only thing that hurts the movie is that it doesn’t feel dirty enough. Whenever the movie turns into pure horror Western grime, it gets that weird digital sheen. Some of that belongs to the format, while the rest belongs to modern sensibilities. In terms of gore, the film pulls its punches for that R rating. That being said, I know of several readers that will actively pick this up over other pseudo horror titles.

One thing I did notice was Ethan Wiley wrote this movie. What is it with that guy and horror westerns? From “House II” to “Dead Again in Tombstone”, he’s got a real flair for this sub-sub genre.
