THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS REVIEWED
“The Man with Two Brains” is one of the first films were I got comedy. Sure, I was way younger, but it’s a neat thing to find your style of comedy. That Reiner/Martin stretch from “The Jerk” to “All of Me” is second-to-none. Steve Martin got to play with film ideas he liked, while Reiner shot the living hell out of what could’ve been high-concept comedy. Plus, they had the common sense to play short and hit you with a joke every 5 seconds. I miss the days before comedy directors thought line-a-rama fixed everything.
Plus, this was Kathleen Turner’s follow-up to “Body Heat”. I love that an actress like that could’ve made this kind of jump. Sure, I prefer the disembodied voice of Sissy Spacek in the film, but I’ll take what I can get. Hopefully, other studios are planning on releasing the rest of the Reiner/Martin films. I know that “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid” should be coming to Blu sooner than later. Also, if you’re not a fan of these movies, then what’s your deal? Steve Martin didn’t get better. He didn’t!
