SLASHER REVIEWED
“Slasher” reminds of what horror TV used to be before everything became high concept. Chiller plays everything close to its traditional vest, but it works for what the audience needs. Katie McGrath plays our heroine who finds herself returning home to where her parents were murdered. Unfortunately, a copycat is now terrorizing the area and killing others in a similar fashion. While the bodies start to pile, we learn some dark secrets about the town.
You can feel Kevin Williamson seemingly haunting the entire production. I know that he’s not dead, but there’s something about his writing that almost every horror creators seems to have difficulty escaping. The ones that do either spend their time aping different eras or directors and trying to call that original. I’d love to see what keeps up in Season Two, but I can see people not wanting to return after Season One. It’s not bad, it just feels very derivative.
