THE BOY REVIEWED
“The Boy” is a rather fun British infused take on “Bad Ronald”. For those that don’t remember TV-movie horror of the 1970s, “Bad Ronald” was a film about a bad child hidden away following a terrible accident. If you don’t want spoilers, then don’t tug on that thread too hard. In regards to this film, it’s a fun January dump horror movie that bucks recent trends. It wears its appreciation of quiet horror on its sleeves.
Lauren Cohan is an actress that has yet to impress me. If she can keep up this momentum, then I’ll support whatever she stars in next. Playing off what some would consider a trite concept, Cohan sells the terror of a creepy British family making you take care of their doll child. Knowing that things aren’t what they seem allows this world to work. I know that a great deal of readers passed on this flick in January, so remedy that now. “The Boy” deserves your attention.
