MISCONDUCT REVIEWED
“Misconduct” could almost place as a spoof film of the legal thrillers that have populated Hollywood for the last 30 years. There’s a smidge of “Constant Gardner”, “The Firm”, “Disclosure”, “Frantic”, “Presumed Innocent” and even “Jagged Edge”. Hopkins and Pacino work well as a token villain and mentor, but it’s up to Josh Duhamed to steer this steaming pile right into the headlights of oncoming traffic. It’s a shame, as there is a stunning cast in the film. I just can’t pin down where it all went wrong.
Actually, I can when I think about it. Nothing new happens in “Misconduct”. The plot is muddy and nobody here actually creates a narrative that’s worth following. At this point, I wish they would’ve turned this film into a Zucker Brothers spoof just to save face. It’s one thing to bomb as a straight drama, so why not throw a pie into somebody’s face? It’s not like Pacino is above that anymore.
