STEALING CARS REVIEWED
“Stealing Cars” is kinda all over the place. I appreciate Emory Cohen’s work in the lead, but the narrative makes no sense. The lead is a criminal, but he’s also a troubled teen trying to learn more about himself. William H. Macy is among other that lead strong supporting turns. But, it all feels like dressing up a middlin’ teen melodrama that never finds a point. Yet, it’s not terrible.
That weird point of delineation is what keeps me scratching my head. I should hate this, but the sheer amount of talent onscreen makes it passable. Think of the movie as a loose thread. If you pull on it, the entire thing comes apart. But, most will be able to ignore it and enjoy it for a one-time viewing. Still, it’s one hell of a loose thread.
