TUMBLEDOWN

TUMBLEDOWN REVIEWED

“Tumbledown” is an attempt to make a real movie that straddles the romantic drama line. Well, there’s elements of comedy. Much like other genre definers, it never really comes together for this movie. More than anything, it’s an acting showcase for Rebecca Hall and Jason Sudeikis. If you divorced the side story from the heart of “Tumbledown”, it could almost work as a stage play.

That being said, what else is going in a story about grieving and trying to understand interpersonal relationships? Rebecca Hall’s deceased rock star husband brings the main duo together, but his work and the man himself almost feel secondary. Jason Sudeikis doesn’t have much to discover, but what he finds seems to only work as a means to make the audience feel better. The film stays pretty ambivalent to being classified or being tightly plotted. I still enjoyed it.
